Why we love it

In late July, something magical happens in northern Door County and on Washington Island: the lavender fields burst into bloom. Every year, it seems there are more beautiful fields to visit—some with admission and others free to enjoy.

They are absolutely worth seeking out for the soft purple-blue views, summer sunshine, and the incredible scent of lavender drifting through the air. A lovely Door County tradition and one of the prettiest ways to experience the Peninsula in summer.
